The first number must be 1, so we divide both numbers by the first number.
Q: Write 3 : 4 in the form 1 : n
A: divide both numbers by 3.
1 : 4/3
Q: Write 8 : 7 in the form 1 : n
A: divide both numbers by 8.
1 : 7/8
