How would you work out -4+6?

-4 + 6 is the same as calculating 6 - 4,

which equals 2

To visualise it in your head, think of a number line:


-------------------------------------

-5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6


You start at -4

And since you are "adding 6", you want to move 6 places to the right, going up the number line


----------------------------------

-5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6


Therefore, -4+6 = 2
