LCM stands for Least Common Multiple.

It’s the smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.

Example:

Find the LCM of 4 and 5:

Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20...

Multiples of 5: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25...

The least common multiple is 20.

LCM stands for the Lowest Common Multiple. This is the number that is a multiple for all the numbers given (ie can be found in the times table for all the numbers given). For example, if the numbers given is 3 and 6, the lowest common multiple for them both is 12 as that is the first number that can be found which is a multiple of both of them

The answer is Least Common multiple.

The LCM of two or more numbers is the smallest number that is evenly divisible by all numbers in the set.

For example:

By prime factorisation method, we can write 8 and 10 as the product of prime numbers, such that;

8 = 2 Γ— 2 Γ— 2

10 = 2 Γ— 5

LCM (8, 10) = 2 Γ— 2 Γ— 2 Γ— 5 = 40

LCM stands for Lowest Common Multiple for two or more numbers in Maths. For example, to find the LCM of number 6 and 4, we can

step1: write down the multiples of each number from the smallest onwards

step2: find out the first number that is a multiple of both numbers

So you working will be like this:

Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24...

Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24...

As you can see, numbers 12, 24 and propably more if we write down more occured in above lists and they are all the common multiples of 4 and 6. Among all these, 12 is the smallest or lowest, so

12 is the lowest Common Multiple of 4 and 6, that is to say

LCM of 4 and 6 = 12

LCM stands for Lowest Common Multiple

For example,

Question: What is the lowest common multiple between (LCM) between 6 and 10 ?

Answer: 30

Explanation:

you have to find a number that is a multiple of 6 and 10 but it has to be a multiple of the two and the lowest value possible. So,

6 x 1 = 6 10 x 1 = 10

6 x 2 = 12 10 x 2 = 20

6 x 3 = 18 10 x 3 = 30

6 x 4 = 24 10 x 4 = 40

6 x 5 = 30 10 x 5 = 50

From the timestable you can see that 30 is the lowest common multiple between 6 and 10. 60 is also a multiple if you continue the timestable but that is not the lowest value. Therefore, its important you always take the lowest value

LCM stands for Least Common Multiple. It's the smallest multiple that two or more numbers have in common. For example, the LCM of 4 and 6 is 12 because it's the smallest number that both 4 and 6 can divide evenly into.

The LCM (Least Common Multiple) of two numbers is the smallest number that both can divide evenly.

For example, to find the LCM of 4 and 5:

  • Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, ...
  • Multiples of 5: 5, 10, 15, 20, ...

The smallest common number is 20, so the LCM of 4 and 5 is 20.

LCM is the Lowest Common Multiple of 2 numbers. That means the lowest number that appears in both their times tables.

Some examples - what's the LCM of 2 and 3? Well, 6 is in BOTH the 2x table (2x3) and 3x table. (3x2)

Whats the LCM of 8 and 12? 24 is in both the 8x table (8x3) and the 12x table (12x2).

I'd work it out by writing down the 1st 5 numbers in both times tables (that's usually enough) and circling the numbers they both share. The lowest of the numbers you circle = the LCM.

LCM means Least Common multiple or factor. It is also the multiple of any two or more given integers. For example: LCM of 16 and 20 will be 2 X 2 X 2 X 2 X 5 = 80. Where 80 is the smallest common multiple for numbers 16 and 20.

Lowest Common Multiple! An LCM between two numbers is the smallest number that is a multiple of both. For example, between 6 and 7, the LCM would be 42, as this is the smallest number that is a multiple of both!

It is simply the smallest of the common multiples.

For Example, what is LCM of 3 and 5?

The multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, ...

The multiples of 5 are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, ...

Find the first Common (same) value which is 15

So the Least Common Multiple of 3 and 5 is 15

LCM stands for lowest common multiple. LCM is a number which can be divisible by a set of numbers. For example, 12 is the LCM of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. This means 12 can be divided exactly by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12 itself.

Least common multiples..

example- LCM of two numbers is divisible by both numbers. For example, the LCM of 6 and 8 is 24. Hence 24 is divisible by both 6 and 8.
