A great way to check for this is to do a search for the author and the publisher. Many times articles of informative writing come from think tanks or studies funded by people who have an interest in persuading the public to agree with them. It is also important to fact check any statements. You would be surprised how many articles will make a statement and cite a study that says the opposite.
