When the graph crosses the x axis, the y value will be equal to 0. So you set the equation of the line equal to zero and solve for x.


For example, if we have the line y=3x+6


Set y=0 to give 3x+6=0 and solve for x:

3x=-6

x=-2


So the graph crosses the x axis at x=-2, which is the point (-2, 0)
