Hi Folks,
I have made a calculator to help settle arguments that come up about order or operations type questions.
Does divide come before multiply etc.
You can click in the expression like 1+2*3 = 7 or 9..?
A longer expression becomes less clear.
https://www.bodmas-calculator.com/
The expression is drawn as a tree, the tree can be collapsed revealing the result.
Be nice to have folks to see it since I've put an inordinate amount of time into creating it.
cheers

Hi Martin,
BODMAS stands for Brackets/Order of powers/Divide/Multiply/Add/Subtract. In any Order of Operation task, you would follow this order from the acronym.
So in answer to your question above, you would Multiply the 2 and 3 together first (=6) then simply add 1 (6 + 1 = 7).
Hope that helps!

So with the bodmas rule, you have to multiply 2 and 3 first and then add it with 1.
So the answer will be 7
This will be so helpful for the students! It's a great calculator, congratulations.

Lets learn and growth together.
BODMAS stands for .Brackets, Orders, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. So to solve 1+2*3, first comes multiplication that is 2*3=6 and then addition that is 6+1=7. So the answer is 7.

The order of operations are known as BIDMAS. This is used to determine what part of a mathematical sentence you do first, second and so on. B is first it is short for brackets anything in a bracket needs to be addressed first. I is indices so if you have a number that has a little number at the top right hand corner that is next, remember the indices is how many times you you multiply the digit so for an example if it is 4 with a little 3 it is 4x4x4, 4x4 is 16, 16x4 is 64. D stands for division, which is the next step, M is multiplication and finally A and S are addition and subtraction.

Hi Martin,
Thank you for reaching out. In Mathematics, we use the acronym BODMAS, for the order in which we do operations
Brackets
Order (e.g. x^2, y^3 etc)
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction
For the above example, we would do MULTIPLICATION before ADDITION
2*3 = 6
1 + 6 = 7
The correct answer is therefore 7. If you are unsure or have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
Kind regards,
Roshan :)

7 the order of operation is governed by the rule of BODMAS that is an abbreviation for:
first Bracket, then of then Division afterward Multiplication then Addition and at last Subtraction

With the question 1+2x3 the answer is 7 because you do multiplication before addition. If you only have multiplication and division in your question you do it from left to right. That's is which ever sign comes first from left to right

Click here to view my profile and arrange a free introduction.Yes in Order of Operations, Divide come before multiply. BODMAS stand for Bracket, Order, Division , Multiplication , Addition and Subtraction.
1+2*3 is 7 and your calculator is a great will definitely be using!
BODMAS means Bracket Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction. We give priority to Bracket most and in the decreasing order we give the least priority to Subtraction. Therefore in your above example first 3*2 will happen as Multiplication comes first from Addition which gives us 6 and adding 1 gives 7.

1+(2*3) =7 , According to the BODMAS Rule . If in an list of operations to do , do in the order like this - Bracket, of , multipi cation, then Addition then at last subtraction . Here no brackets ,SO I can DO the multiplication first as per the bodmas rule . Then add 1 to that answer
