To divide a number by 1000, move all of its digits 3 place value columns to the right. In this example we will divide 1,000,000 by 1,000. So moving all the digits 3 places to the right will leave us with an answer of 1,000!

As there are 3 zeroes on both sides, you can just cancel them out as they amount to the same value as shown below
*remember always cancel the zeroes out from right to left + this technique only works with zeroes!!!!
