4% is the same as finding 1% then multiplying that by 4.
1% is 0.065 as you divide 6.50 by 100.
0.065 x 4 = 0.26
so 26p
4% of £6.50:
£6.50 / 100 = £0.065 (this is 1%)
£0.065 x 4 = £0.26 - 4%
4% of £6.25 is 26 pence
We know that percentages are out of 100. This means that 6.50 is 100%. In order to work out 4%, we can first work out 1%, and then multiply by 4 to get 4%. To get 1% we simply divide 6.50 by 100. This gives us 0.65. Now, we can work out the 4% we need by multiplying 0.65 by 4, which is 2.6.

There are two ways in which I would teach this.
The first being that we know that 100% = £6.50, so we can start by finding 1%.
How do we go from 100% to 1%? (We divide by 100). Noting that whatever we do to one side of an equation we must do to the other. Therefore we must also divide £6.50 by 100, giving us £0.065 (or 6.5p).
Now we know that 1% = 6.5p, how would we find 4%?
How do we go from 1% to 4%? (We multiply by 4). Noting that whatever we do to one side of an equation we must do to the other. Therefore we must also multiply 6.5p by 4.
We now know that 4% = £0.26 or 26p.
The second way I would teach this is to ask students to find the multiplier. If 100% = a multiplier of 1. What will 4% be? It would be 0.04.
We take our original value of £6.50 and multiply it by 0.04 giving us the same answer as above, 26p.

First - divide 6.5 by 100 to find 1% of £6.50
1% = 0.065
Next - simply multiply your answer by 4, to find 4%
4% = 0.26

If this is a calculator question the easiest hack to find any percentage of anything on a calculator is to locate the % button, on my calculator its found by pressing 'shift' then 'ans' , yours may be different but it will be in yellow above one of the buttons meaning you will need to press shift before it.
In maths whenever you see the word 'of' you need to multiply.
So 4% of 6.50 means 4% x 6.50
using my calculator i would type :
4 'shift' 'ans' x 6.50 =
then my answer would be 0.26

step 1: £6.50 = 100%, so dividing it by 100 gives us 1%
6.5 ÷ 100 = 0.065
step 2: 1% x 4 = 4%, so now multiply the answer by the percent you wish to find
0.065 x 4 = 0.26
4% of £6.50 = £0.26

First find 1% by dividing by 100, the multiply by 4.
6.50 divided by 100 is 6.5p
6.5p times 4 is 26p

To find this, i would divide 6.50 by 100, giving me 0.065. This is 1%. Now to find 4% we just need 4x as much as the 1%. so 0.065 x 4 = 0.26. So the answer is 26p!
(4/100) * 6.50
4% -- 4 divided by 100.
"of" is the product expression. Thus, multiplication operator.
(4/100) * 6.50
0.04 * 6.50 = 0.26
Therefore, 4% of 6.50 is 0.25 Pounds

First thing you would like to do is to convert the percentage into decimals. Which is 0.04
Then simply do 6.50 x 0.04 = 0.26
