0.57 - x


x= (0.57*100)/1.20

x= 47.5%

Change the £1,20 into pennies to make the units of measurement the same.


You will then have 57p and 120p.


Then 57/120 = 0.475


To turn the decimal into a percentage just multiply by 100 0.475 x 100 = 47.5%

Remember 'per cent' means out of 100 hence multiplying by 100. This is the rule for turning any decimal into a percentage.

For this you would do it as any other percentage question. You would do 57/120 x100 and would get an answer of 47.5%
