I would convert the pounds to pennies (so £1.20 = 120p), so we're using the same units.
Then I would divide 57p by 120p and times the result by 100. This would give 47.5%.
Firstly, we need to convert £1.20 into pence, so 120p, then we simply type in the calculator 57/120 *100
57p as a percentage of £1.20 is 47.5%
To work it out you would divide 57p by £1.20 (120p) and multiply the answer by 100.
You would do 0.57/1.20 which will give you 0.475.
you’d then times that by 100 to give you 47.5%.

You need to convert both amounts into either pounds or pence. I will choose pence and then divide 57p by 120p and multiply the answer by 100.

you would take 52, divide it by 1.20 and multiple it by 100.

The benefits of working with money and percentages is that both amount to 100 e.g. 100p = £1, percentages are always capped at 100%. The total (dependent number, in this case £1.20) is always and can only ever be 100%.
This can be done in one step as long as you understand the concept.
Here, 100% is £1.20
Let's make our variables (pence) the same by converting £1.20 to pennies = 120p
57/120 x 100% = 47.5%
57p is 47.5% of £1.20

This is now 57 out of 120 or you could write it as a fraction 57/120.
The / line in a fraction is divide.
So do the calculation as you read it 57 ÷ 120 and this will turn it into a decimal (a number out of 1). Answer: 0.475
Percentage means out of 100. To convert a decimal to a percentage you multiply it by 100.
0.475 × 100 = 47.5%

To get the percentage of a number, first divide the amount by the total amount. For example, 0.57 (57p) divided by 1.20. Then multiply by 100 for the percentage.
0.57 / 1.20 = 0.475 x 100% = 47.5%
and if you check your answer 1.20 x 47.5% or 1.20 x 0.475 = 0.57 or 57p

Well the easiest way is learn the ratio method.
Lets make 2 coloums
Percentage : £
100% : 1.20£
x% : 0.57£
If you cross multiply, you will get the answer.
100 * 0.57 = X * 1.20
X = 47.5%
So, the answer is 47.5%

Click here to view my profile and arrange a free introduction.first, convert £1.20 into pennies, by multiplying 1.20 by 100 (as there are 100 pennies (p) in a pound (£)).
please note that there are 100 pennies in a pound.
£1.20x100£ per p=120p
Now, find how many 57 pennies go into 120 pennies (57 divided by 120)
use a calculator for this
you should get 0.475.
This has now given you your fraction between the two values given in the question.
to convert from a fraction to a percentage we now multiply by 100.
This gives us 0.475x100 = 47.5%.
We can now conclude that 57p is 47.5% of £1.20.
Please note that percent (%) is said as per-cent (as in out of 100)
mathematically, we write this as multiply by 1/100 (x1/100) where x means times.
