Hello! Great question! Let's look at 5 divided by 15 first! The answer of course is 0.3333 recurring. Now let's divide 1 by 3! The answer of course is 0.3333 recurring! Exactly the same! Hope that helps!

Divide both sides of you fraction by their highest common factor, in this case 5. 5/5 =1, 15/5 =3. Therefore 1/3 is an qual fraction.

So 5 goes into both 5 and 15 and whatever we do to the top we do to the bottom. So if we divide 5 by 5 we divide 15 by 5 which should give us 1/3

Some fractions can be simplified. This means that they can be written in a smaller form by finding common factors. In this case, both 5 and 15 can be divided by 5. Dividing the 5 by 5 gives you 1 and dividing the 15 by 5 gives you 3. Hence 5/15 is simplified to 1/3. Both numbers in the fraction must by divisible by the same number to find a common fraction. To prove the numbers are the same, you can also check by dividing 5 by 15 to get 0.33 and dividing 1 by 3 to also get 0.33. 1/3 is just a simplified version of 5/15.

You need to check whether you can divide numerator and denominator by the same number. This is because a fraction where the same number is both numerator and denominator represents the number 1. So for example 3/3 = 1. And if I divide any amount by 1 the amount will not change.
In this case, 5 works as divisor for both numerator and denominator. We can use 5/5. 5 divided by 5 is 1, 15 divided by 5 is 3. 5/15 = 1/3.

Multiplying 1/3 by 5 means that you must multiply the top and the bottom of the fraction by 5. Doing this results in the fraction 5/15.

Click here to view my profile and arrange a free introduction.Both 5 and 15 are divisible by 5. Therefore, you have the following: 5 divided by 5=1. 15 divided by 5=3. The fraction in its simplified form is 1/3
1 x 5 = 5
3 x 5 = 15
so 5/15 in its simplest form = 1/3
simplification by table of 5
5/15 = 1/3
Cross multiply
5 * 3 = 15 * 1
15 = 15
