What is the equation for efficiency?

$\text{efficiency} = \dfrac{\text{useful energy transferred by the device}}{\text{total energy supplied to the device}}$ (× 100 for a percentage)

True or false? A device can have an efficiency greater than 1 (or more than 100%).

False. Useful energy can never be more than the total energy supplied, so efficiency is never above 1.
