What do all waves transfer?

Energy and information, without transferring matter.

A cork floats on water as a water wave passes. How does the cork move?

Up and down, at right angles (perpendicular) to the direction the wave travels — it does not travel along with the wave.

True or false? When a sound wave travels across a room, air moves from the source to your ear.

False. The air particles only oscillate backwards and forwards about fixed positions; the wave transfers energy, not matter.
