Swiftly on the back of the agricultural revolution came the industrial revolution. This was a period of rapid industrial growth beginning in England toward the second quarter/half of the 18th century (1725–50 AD), which then moved throughout the Europe and the United States.

Hey, i'm going to give you a short answer and long answer.

Short Answer: 2nd industrial revolution, mid 19th to early 20th century.

Long (and much better) answer: The main shift was the Industrial Revolution. Now most when we talk about this revolution think of the Victorian era and they are partly right. Although the ground work was earlier in the 18th century the big shift was in the mid 19th and early 20th century which in Britain was the Victorian era.

Think of it as building a house; the first industrial shift which was mid to late 18th century was laying the foundations. That is the first industrial revolution- not extravagant work but important nonetheless. No other developments could continue without this taking place first. It looked at the use of steam engines, mechanisms to develop but it was limited by lack of technology of the time. Fast forward to the mid 19th century, power like steam, electricity and people power through mass production was now being used. In our theoretical house, this second revolution is building the walls and roof; the technological revolution also know as the second revolution of the Victorian age allowed for the factory format to take off.

The revolution spread with technological advancement, the increased used of factories for mass production rather than independent cottage industries. It signals the change of living arrangements as many migrated to the cities to gain work in such factories. Although the money was low paid and the conditions were dangerous, the new organisation and power of machines made the work more methodical and effective.

The 3 main points of Victorian Industrial Revolution was; using machines instead of hand tools, using power such as steam and utilising the factory format of mass production for low pay equals maximum profit. Now the discussion is on the 3rd Industrial revolution- the digital age. Think of the developments already of how far technology has come. But think back to our theoretical house, no AI, Alexa's, modern luxuries could have been possible without the foundations of the first industrial revolution.

Hope this helps.

The switch from agricultural practices to industrial practices is often associated with the Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 18th century and continued into the 19th century. The Industrial Revolution was a period of significant economic, technological, and social change, during which there was a transition from primarily agrarian and handcraft-based economies to industrial and manufacturing-based economies.

Key developments of the Industrial Revolution included the mechanization of production processes, the widespread use of steam engines and other machinery, the growth of factory-based production, and the expansion of transportation networks such as railroads. These changes led to increased productivity, urbanization, and the emergence of a wage labor system, as well as significant shifts in the social and economic structure of societies.

The Industrial Revolution had a profound impact on many aspects of life, including agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and the overall organization of economies. It marked a fundamental shift in the way goods were produced and societies were organized, and it laid the groundwork for the modern industrialized world.

The industrial revolution. It began in Britian around the 1780's, but the impact of the revolution wasn't widely noticed until about 1840. Within this era, we saw the invention of the steam engine, which then led to further technological advances in Britian!
