The switch from agricultural practices to industrial practices is often associated with the Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 18th century and continued into the 19th century. The Industrial Revolution was a period of significant economic, technological, and social change, during which there was a transition from primarily agrarian and handcraft-based economies to industrial and manufacturing-based economies.
Key developments of the Industrial Revolution included the mechanization of production processes, the widespread use of steam engines and other machinery, the growth of factory-based production, and the expansion of transportation networks such as railroads. These changes led to increased productivity, urbanization, and the emergence of a wage labor system, as well as significant shifts in the social and economic structure of societies.
The Industrial Revolution had a profound impact on many aspects of life, including agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and the overall organization of economies. It marked a fundamental shift in the way goods were produced and societies were organized, and it laid the groundwork for the modern industrialized world.

The Industrial Revolution saw the switch from agriculture to industrial practices. With the introduction of heavy machinery in factories also came the steam train. This allowed more people to travel across the country. So while we see a lot of literature, for example Charles Dickens, that explored and highlighted tough working conditions and poverty, we also see a rise in travel writing
