5 can be written as 5/1, and when multiplying fractions we multiply the top numbers on the fraction separately to the bottom numbers on the fraction.
So we are multiplying 5/1 with 1/4.
Top fractions are 5*1 =5 and bottom fractions are 1*4 =4
So our answer is 5/1 * 1/4 = 5/4

Now we have:
5/1 x 1/4
When multiplying fractions, all you need to do is multiply your numerators and multiply your denominators separately.
So for the numerator, you would do 5 x 1 = 5
And for the denominator, you would do 1 x 4 = 4.
Therefore, 5 x 1/4 = 5/4, aka five quarters.

5=4+1
4×1/4=1
1×1/4=1/4
1+1/4=1.25

5 x 1/4 = 1.25. It is done like this. We change 1/4 to 0.25 and then work 5 x 0.25 = 1.25 or 5 x 1/4 = (5 x 1)/4 = 5/4 = 1.25

Hello, my name is Louise and I aim to make learning fun!
5 times 1/4 =1.25
4 quarters of the pizza is 1 (whole) + 1 quarter = 1 1/4
Half of 5 = 2.5
Half of 2.5 = 1.25
If you half something and then half it again, it is the same as a quarter (think of our pizza)
5 times 1/4 =1.25
5 divided by 1/4 =0.25
0.25 x 5 =1.25

5 times 1/4 is the same thing as 5/1 times 1/4. To get the answer, we multiply the numerator and divide the answer by the value we get when we multiply the denominators. So we have (5×1)÷(1×4), which gives 5/4! I hope that helps.

5=5/1, 5*(1/4)=(5/1)*(1/4)=(5*1)/(1*4)=5/4=1.25

Imagine you have a slice of cake. In the whole cake there are 4 slices. This means each slice of cake represents ¼. You have 5 slices of cake meaning you have the whole 1 cake plus another slice of cake. This results in a total of one whole cake a ¼ slice. Therefore, 5 × ¼ = 1 and ¼ also written as 1¼
