Hi, the answer is 1.25.
Begin by making 5 into a fraction:
5/1
Then multiply the two fractions:
5/1 x 1/4
Start by multiplying the numerators (top numbers):
5x1= 5
And the denominators (bottom numbers):
1x4= 4
You are left with the fractions 5/4 which can then be simplified to 1 1/4, or 1.25.
Hope this helped!
I identify your weakness and convert that to your strength!
1/4 * 5
1/4 = 0.25
0.25*5= 1.25

Then you would do 5/1 × 1/4, so you multiply the tops (numerators) so 5 × 1 = 5, and then multiply the bottoms (denominators) so 1 × 4 = 4, and then write them as a fraction so your answer would be 5/4.
first thing to do is make sure that all of the numbers are fractions so it would become 5/1*1/4
then you would use the kfc method (keep flip change)
which would give you 5/1 divided by 4/1
then you would work the denominator and numerator
5/4=1.25
1/1=1
goving you 1.25
You can make 5 a fraction! 5/1 x 1/4 is 5/4. Therefore it is 1 1/4
This would be 5/4 or 1.25!

To perform the calculation of 5 times 1/4 you just follow the common rule for the multiplication of fractions. This rule states to multiply the numerator but not multiply the denominator. Therefore for this calculation you mould multiply 5 by the numerator which is 1. 5 x 1 = 5. This becomes the new numerator. The denominator remains the same therefore the answer to this calculation is 5/4.

Hi Maximillia,
Think of the 5 as a fraction, so 5/1.
Now you can easily times 5/1 x 1/4 by multiplying the top numbers together to get the new numerator (top number in the fraction) and multiplying the bottom numbers together to get the new denominator.
So 5x1=5 for the numerator. And 1x4=4 for the denominator.
So your final answer is 5/4. This is an improper fraction but can also be written as a mixed number 1 1/4.
An even easier method is to think of the 1/4 as one quarter of a pizza. So if you have 5 quarters of a pizza, you have 1 full pizza and one quarter so 1 and 1/4. Or '5 quarters' as you can seen in the diagram.
Hope this helps :)

5 x 1/4 = 1.25. This would be the answer in a decimal format. You can think about this question as 'what is 1/4 of 5' as the multiplication sign can be considered as replacing the word 'of' here. So, half of 5 is 2.5 and half of 2.5 is 1.25 (if you half something and then half it again, it is the same as taking a quarter - think about when you cut a cake)

Keep adding a quarter 5 times
1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4
Multiply two fractions
5 as a fraction is 5/1 so...
5/1 x 1/4 = ?
Multiply the numerators (5 x 1 = 5)
Multiply the denominators (1 x 4 = 4)
So your numerator is 5 and your denominator is 4...
ANSWER is 5/4
5 times 1/4 is equal to 1.25
