5 can also be written as 5/1, making the equation 5/1 x 1/4. Multiplying both numerators together (5x1) and noth denominators together (1x4), would make the final answer 5/4.

5x1/4 = 5/1 x 1/4 = 5/4 = 1.25

Turn 5 into a fraction (5/1) then multiply the top and bottom of the two fractions together. This gives you five quarters, as 1/4 is 0.25 and 4/4 is 1, the answer is 1.25.

To answer this we can put the number 5 as a fraction so they are in the same form. Hence 5/1 X 1/4 = 5/4. This is 5 divided by 4=1.25

5 times 1/4 is essentially 1/4 added 5 times. 1/4 is 0.25, 4 times 0.25 is 1, plus 0.25 would be 1.25.

5*1/4 = 5/4=1.25
