When multiplying fractions, you multiply the numerators (i.e. top number multiplied by top number), and multiply the denominators (bottom number multiplied by bottom number). You then end up with a fraction, which may be a simple fraction (where the numerator/top number is less than the denominator/bottom number) or a improper/top - heavy fraction (where the numerator/top number is larger than the denominator/bottom number). How you present your answer depends on it is sked for in the question. So, for example, 5 x 1/4 is the same as 5/1 x 1/4. Using the guides I've given, it would be done like this: (5 x 1)/(1 x 4), which would come to 5/4. This can be left in this form, as this is an exact answer. Depending on how the question asks for the answer to be presented, you may be required to present it as a mixed number, which is where it you show the whole numbers and the fractions. In this case, 5/4, think of how many 4s go into 5. We know that one 4 goes into 5, with 1 left over. So the answer is 1 1/4. It may even ask for the answer to be presented as a decimal. To do this, simply divide 5 by 4, giving the answer 1.25

If you were asked to give the answer as a decimal, but were asked not to use a calculator, you could use the first technique I explained, giving the answer 1 1/4. So you know that it's going to be 1. something. To turn 1/4 into a decimal, you may know that 1/4 is 0.25 If you don't, think of 100 divided by 4, giving the answer 25. To turn 100 into 1, divide it by 100 (move the decimal point 2 places to the left) and so do the same with the 25, giving you 0.25.. So the answer is 5//4, or 1 1/4, or 1.25

first thing to do is make sure that all of the numbers are fractions so it would become 5/1*1/4

then you would use the kfc method (keep flip change)

which would give you 5/1 divided by 4/1

then you would work the denominator and numerator

5/4=1.25

1/1=1

goving you 1.25

This is a multiplication question. Basically, you want 5 x 1/4 or 5/4. You can also think about multiplying numerators and demoninators. 5 can be written as 5/1 so 5/1 x 1/4 = 5x1/1x4 = 5/4

5 whole converted to a fraction is 5/1, we proceed by multiplying numerators together and denominators together, the answer is 5/4

I identify your weakness and convert that to your strength!

1/4 * 5

1/4 = 0.25

0.25*5= 1.25

Hi, the answer is 1.25.

Begin by making 5 into a fraction:

5/1

Then multiply the two fractions:

5/1 x 1/4

Start by multiplying the numerators (top numbers):

5x1= 5

And the denominators (bottom numbers):

1x4= 4

You are left with the fractions 5/4 which can then be simplified to 1 1/4, or 1.25.

Hope this helped!

When multiplying fractions, we must remember that quarters are not a number, they are a thing. So if we imagine instead of quarters we have pencils:

5 x 1 pencil = 5 pencils

It is the same with quarters (and all other fractions), we only multiply the number we have and the bottom number never changes e.g.

5 x 1 quarter = 5 quarters or 1 whole and 1 quarter

5/1 x 1/4

When multiplying fractions, multiply the two top numbers (numerators) together and the two bottom numbers (denominators) together.

5 x 1 = 5, 1 x 4 = 4

5 x 1/4 = 5/4

4 goes into 5 once with a remainder of 1

Answer = 1 1/4

5 * 1/4 or 5 ÷ 4 = 1.25 or 1 1/4

5 times a quarter is the same as 5 lots of one quarter, so would equal 5/4 (5 quarters). As a mixed number, that would be equivalent to one whole (as 4 quarters = 1 whole) and one quarter (5 1/4).

1.25.

how you do this is turn 5 into a fraction by doing 5/1 and multiplying this by 1/4 you should get 5/4 which equates to 1.25.
