Answering 2-Mark Questions Flashcards
All 7 cards in this deck
What does the command word 'outline' require you to do?
Give two linked points about a business concept or issue, placed in the context given in the question.
What are the steps to answer a 2-mark 'outline' question?
e.g. Outline one benefit to a bakery of using social media to advertise.- Make one point: social media advertising is low cost.
- Link a second point to it in context: so the bakery can promote new cakes to many local customers cheaply.
True or false? An 'outline' answer needs a judgement about whether the point is important.
False. It needs only two linked points in context — no judgement or evaluation.
What does the command word 'calculate' require you to do?
Use mathematical skills to reach an answer based on given data; calculators may be used and workings should be given.
What are the steps to set out a 'calculate' answer?
e.g. Calculate gross profit when revenue is £500 and cost of sales is £200.- Write the formula: gross profit = revenue − cost of sales.
- Show the workings: £500 − £200.
- State the final figure with its unit: £300.
True or false? If your final figure is correct, you do not need to show any workings.
False. Workings should be given, and they can earn method marks if the final figure is wrong.
What does the instruction 'complete the table' require you to do?
Work out the values that are missing from the presented table of data.
