State & Identify Questions Flashcards
All 4 cards in this deck
What does a 'state' question require?
A short, correct point only — a word, phrase or single sentence with no development.
How many separate points does 'State two...' worth 2 marks need?
Two different points, one mark each.
True or false? You gain extra marks for adding 'because...' to a state answer.
False. Development earns nothing on a state question and wastes time.
What are the steps to answer an 'identify' question?
e.g. 'Identify one source of finance used by Café Nova' (1 mark)
- Check whether the answer must come from the extract (yes — Café Nova).
- Find the relevant detail in the text (a bank loan).
- Write it in one short phrase and stop ('a bank loan').
